Continuing on with their struggles in the desert, the USA men's 7s team was crushed 47-7 by Australia in the Bowl Quarterfinals.

The USA scored first, when Zack Test cut through the Aussie line for a nicely-taken try. And Test looked set to score again before spilling the ball with the tryline open.

With the Eagle confidence low after one their worst pool play days in some time, the USA fell apart. Folau Niua was sin-binned, and once he got back on the field, Steve Tomasin was sin-binned. Lewis Holland scored before the sin-bins, and Sean McMahon and Con Foley punished the USA when the Eagles were shorthanded.

That made it 21-7 at halftime, and it got worse in the second half, as Australia, still up a man, scored again, and ran away with it. The USA has not been able to get the ball, keep the ball, make tackles, or get in position to make tackles, and now hope to turn the tide against a French team that is also struggling.

Once again, players who have made an impact domestically (Miles Craigwell, Nu'u Punimata) or internationally (Carlin Isles) did not start.
