USA Rugby's announcement of the latest changes in the Men's 7s squad also mentioned changes in the coaching staff.
These changes come in the heels of the announcement that Alex Magleby will take a position working on the team's pipeline. Sjills Coach Richie Walker is not really a surprise as he has been in Chula Vista already, working with the women's team, and, like Hawkins, does work for Serevi Rugby.
Andre Snyman comes in as defense coach, while Waisale Serevi and Ben Gollings, also Serevi employees (although you might have guessed that) will be kicking coaches.
This drastically expands the coaching within the program, which for years has essentially relied on the Head Coach to cover almost everything.
Interestingly, RUGBYMag.com Editor-in-Chief Alex Goff discussed the need for these changes in a recent RuggaMatrix America podcast.
